back 'atcha

Anonymous asks...

I have read a spell on breaking couples up. Say if I want to break a couple up, wouldnt that come back on me 3 fold. I read the spell with a black cloth, black thread, and a glass cup or container, write their names on separate pieces of paper and put it in the glass cup or container on separate sides and put the black clother over the top of the glass and tie with black thread. and stick it in the back of the freezer. I just want to know what you think about it. And would it come back on me 3 fold?

Witch Dr answers...

Yes, most likely this will come back at you in some form or another. As the old adage concerning lovers goes: "you lose them the same way you gain them." That's definitely something to consider especially if you want to break up the couple so that you can be with one of them. I'm in the middle of reading Nemesis; The True Story of Aristotle Onassis, Jackie O, and the Love Triangle That Brought Down the Kennedys by Peter Evans, so it's funny that you write me with this question. At one point Maria Callas was part of a sailing party on Christina (Onassis yacht) and she saw a bracelet on the wrist of Lee Radziwill (the sister of First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy). Callas knew it was a gift from Onassis and knew that he had replaced her with a new lover. Sometime later, Lee noticed an expensive bracelet on Jackie's wrist while sailing on the Christina and realized that HER SISTER had replaced her as Onassis's new lover! Talk about KARMA!!! Ouch - that must have stung big time!!!

In some cases, separation spells are not bad karma, for example when there is physical or mental abuse involved and the spell is worked for the good and protection of someone involved.

golden shower curse

Ah today I received a interesting question from OneVaQty who asks:
Can you hex a person by putting your urine on them?

Well OVQ,

I don't know if you can hex someone that way, but certainly you can PISS THEM OFF!!!

I do not recommend nor do I endorse putting your urine on another person. Indeed urine is very powerful and there are those who actually drink their own pee as part of urine therapy. It is believed to be very healing and therapeutic. Urine is also used in magick for protection. It is added to a witches' bottle of protection to keep all malevolent forces away from the practitioner.

I have heard of a hexing formula involving urine however it is not poured directly on the person to be hexed. With this spell, the witch buries a belonging of the one to be hexed in the dirt of a potted plant. The witch then pees into this pot for a full lunar year while yelling obscenities and curses into the pot. It is said that eventually the plant and the one to be hexed will both perish. Honestly, this sounds absolutely repugnant to me. Who in their right mind, body, soul would want to keep a pot full of stinking piss around the house for a year?! Talk about holding a grudge! Also FYI, OVQ - I happen to know an individual who has performed this spell. I also happen to know that the one buried in the piss pot is still living, thriving, and kicking. And the practitioner, I might add, is a miserable bitter soul with foul odors emitting from her house and person. Consider this well before taking a leak on someone else! There must be a better way to resolve your issues!

Manic Monday #5 Let it Blow Over

Dear Witch Dr
I am beside myself as I keep doing love spells on this guy and they seem to have no effect. In fact, they seem to drive him even further away as I become more and more taken with him. Can you please advise?
- driven and depressed

Dear D&D
Working love magick on another person is often tricky and even considered "black magick". While reserving making any judgements on you, I will say that in my opinion your magic is ineffectual for the following reasons. Generally, when this type of magick is done, one person is OBSESSING over another. The obsessive person often does not release the magick but instead holds onto it. In essence your spell is like a big HELIUM BALLOON that you have BLOWN up. But instead of then letting go of the string and allowing the balloon to fly and float up in the cosmos, you are holding onto the string and bobbing up and down with it. Letting go would be equivalent to sending your prayer up above so that it may manifest down below. By holding on, the energy is not released so the person you are trying to work feels nothing. On the other hand, you end up feeling more and more. You'll need to let that "balloon spell" go and BLOW in the wind - that is if you haven't already BLOWN it! You'll need to know that magick such as this can have the opposite effect. The person may in fact begin to dislike you more and more as you work magick to gain their affections. Attempting to control another's will and affections can often have adverse effects especially if the soul you are working is a strong and spiritual one.

Here are some things I suggest to turn this energy around.
  • approach him. flirt with him. find out on the real plane if he actually has any interest in you.
  • work a spell to make yourself more magnetic and attractive. something to get yourself noticed as opposed to forcing another to have certain feelings for you.
  • keep doing what you are doing but release the energy and that means BLOW him off. Pay him no mind. Don't even think about him and then see if he doesn't come around.
good luck and good magick!

13 ways to prevent Psychic Attacks TT#2

Top 13 Ways to Prevent and/or Break Psychic Attacks

1 Place a glass of water by your bed at night. Add 3 pinches of sea salt and say 3x: “Evil spirits, touch not me, nor mine. Thy power I drain into this brine.” In the morning, pour the water down the toilet and flush.

2 Rub a thin layer of lanolin over your entire body. Including the head and hair. Sleep with this overnight. This will seal the aura and prevent any astral attacks.

3 Bathe in fresh coconut milk. Highly protective.

4 Remove all metal jewelry from body. Soak items in sea salt for 3 days before putting back on body. Metal can be used to conduct negative energy for attacks.

5 Crack an egg open in a glass, and fill glass with water. Cover glass with plate and turn upside-down. Burn a white candle on top of the plate. When candle has finished burning, carry glass and plate to toilet, and empty contents.

6 Leave coins at cemetery gates at midnight.

7 Keep the stomach full

8 Hang garlic around the room and burn the next day. Repeat until symptoms alleviate.

9 Keep onions around the room each day. Burn them the next day and discard the ashes.

10 Eat only meat until symptoms subside.

11 Avoid solitude.

12 Take hot baths or showers.

13 Keep pressure on solar plexus. A hot water bottle will do wonders.

These remedies can be used whenever needed but you will find them most effective when performed on a dark moon. The dark moons occur one day before the new moons.

Psychic Self Defense Lesson III

Mirroring

Mimi asks: Dear Witch Dr.
I have been reading these recent posts on Psychic Attack and they have been most helpful. One question though: suppose I see the evil eye coming towards me and I don't have any Greek eyes, Italian peppers, garlic, or red string on me. Not to mention that I haven't taken a bath in beer or rubbed down with lanolin! What then? Are there any immediate solutions?

Dear Mimi
Thanks for this question as you pose an excellent point! Fortunately you are communicating with the author of the Supermarket Sorceress; Witch Queen of the QUICK FIX! In this case, you will not even need any ingredients but merely a mental image to work with. The technique of mirroring is most effective and immediate when dealing with psychic attack or any form of magickal battle or vibe war. It can be used to ward off the creep on the street or in the bar, the lurking demon, a jealous look, or an all out magickal attack or curse put upon you.

Here is how the technique works: Visualize a mirror in front of you with the reflective side facing out. Once you have this image solid in your mind's eye, extend the image to your back and flanking your sides. Now see these mirrors above your head and below your feet. Again, always with the reflective side facing out. What this does is reflect the evil back to the sender with the added effect of magnifying whatever has been sent. It is pretty intense when done correctly and 100% effective. In fact, mirroring and the dreaded REVERSIBLE * candles are the two things that black magic practitioners fear the most! Keep the mental image of the mirrors up until you feel the danger has subsided. (That is not to say that you must constantly walk around projecting the image. But rather to project the image strongly and release it. Then repeat again as necessary.)

If you think that someone is attacking you in your home, or if you would like to use the mirror technique on a more long term basis, here is how it works. Obtain some small (preferably) round pieces of mirror. You can often find these in beaded Indian or Afghan fabrics and collect the small mirrors when they fall off. Or you can save a small mirror from a lipstick or compact. Place these small mirrors in all the window sills of the home with the reflective side out. You can place on the inside or the outside of the window and you can also place by all the outer doors of the dwellings. You may tape them in place if you like or leave them in a corner where they are unlikely to hurt anyone. The mirrors should not be broken and again the reflective side should always be facing out. This will send back any psychic attack being directed toward you or your family or anyone residing in your home. I recommend this technique highly especially if you have pets or familiars. Animals often absorb negative energy directed at their beloved owners in order to protect them from harm. This makes our pets and familiars especially vulnerable and the mirrors are a simple and effective way to protect them as well.**

*when burning Reversible candles, make sure they burn to completion!
**the Turkish Nazar can also serve this same purpose when hung above doorways in the home or small eyes placed in window sills.

Lord of the Flies

Hi Lexa,
I have a situation I was hoping I could get your advice on. Recently, a friend of mine became interested in the Goetia. Now, my friend has a basic knowledge of magick and ritual - however, this is the first time he has ever tried ceremonial magick. He bought a book entitled Modern Magick by Donald Michael Kraig. (I don't know if you have ever heard of it.) If not, it is a series of thirteen magickal lessons. There is a long and detailed ritual in the book for calling on the assistance of the Goetic spirit Bael. My friend has heard about invisibility and wants Bael's assistance with this. Now, he has not started at lesson one and worked his way up to this lesson. I know this seems strange- but he has just skipped to this section of the book. I don't feel this is particularly wise - but he is still insistent about going through with the ritual. Do you have any experience with the Goetia, and if so, what are some precautions or safety measures my friend should take beforehand?
Thanks.
-Confused

Dear Confused -

I am familiar with Modern Magick and it is a well written book of instruction. However, to skip ahead in the lessons, is like going sky diving without taking the six hour basic training course. No question that your friend could be about to embark on a dangerous endeavor and you are right on to have concerns. On a more positive note, I have often called upon Bael in my magickal workings and have found him to be most accommodating and especially helpful when difficult decisions must be made.

Bael is often classified as a light spirit as opposed to a dark spirit, but he is also in the category of demons and one should take care in approaching him. He is most well known by his other name of Beelzebub. Here is a quote from the Goetia by S. L. MacGregor Mathers:
The First Principal Spirit is a King ruling in the East, called Bael. He maketh thee to go Invisible. He ruleth over 66 Legions of Infernal Spirits. He appeareth in divers shapes, sometimes like a Cat, sometimes like a Toad, and sometimes like a Man, and sometimes all these forms at once. He speaketh hoarsely. This is his character which is used to be worn as a Lamen before him who calleth him forth, or else he will not do thee homage.
Here is the sigil that Mathers refers to and it is crucial that this seal be worn as a talisman in order to lend protection and control to the Magician. Bael is most often in good spirits although there have been occasional reports that he is nasty when summoned. I would venture to say that your friends' biggest danger will be the actual invisibility factor. He must be extremely careful and attentive while crossing streets and stay away from heavily trafficked areas.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Asks...

Greetings WitchDoctor:

It's very easy to find a listing or websites of everyone claiming to be 'white/green/purple' magic practitioners and so forth but it's difficult to find spells and those willing to do spells that tread into 'darker'areas. Do you have any suggestions for sites/listings for those who do 'black magic' or more 'manipulative' type spells that can be used to help others into that area of magic?

- Amber Benson Fan

Dear ABF

I'm not sure how any of those types of spells can be used to "help others" but I am quite sure that the information is out there if you take the time to do the research. You claim that it is easy to find listings and websites for witches of white, purple, and green - well, here's what I came up with after googling the black ones:

Results 1 - 10 of about 2,340,000 for black magick

Looks like you have your work cut out for you. Sorry but I can't give a personal recommendation because I try to steer clear of this stuff. It literally makes me sick. What I will say is this, anyone who has undergone a full and proper initiation into Wicca, will have had training in the left handed path and a journey to the underworld. It is part of the 2nd degree initiation where the practitioner must face and safely cross the abyss. Sybil Leek, Aleister Crowley, Madame Blavatsky, Manly P. Hall, and McGregor Mathers are all respected occultists who have all delved into these matters and are considered positive and informative reads. The Lesser Key of Solomon, The Goetia, and The Necronomicon are of course, the traditional occult classics and worth the read. (Just make sure you invoke your guardians before delving too deep!) Ah, ok, any demonologists out there want to take over from here...?

Win the Lotto!

Dear Lexa:
Charles Pritchard here. I do hope that you can help me PLEASE. I am
looking for some help in find a spell on placing a thought in other
peoples minds and hitting about 3-4 lotteries. also what is the
difference in white and black magic? please let me know about the
spells.
blessed
Charles Pritchard

Dear Pritch
To place a thought in another person's mind, burn a candle in the shape of a skull and write key words relating to the thought you want to place across the forehead. You must also carve the name and astrological sign of the individual you want to influence across the base or neck of the candle. (eg: Mike Aquarius) You should begin burning on a new moon for nine minutes a night and repeat every night until the Full Moon when the candle should be burned to completion. It may take up to nine complete candles to make sure your point gets across. The skull candles can be found in traditional occult shops. Of course, you could also opt to invite the one you want to influence out for a coffee and just say Hey Mike, I have an idea...

As for lottery spells, they're a dollar a dozen. I even published a few good ones in Easy Enchantments. The trick with these spells is that they must be repeated daily or weekly just like you play the lottery. You must also realize that your sphere of influence is not very wide with gambling in general but it gets specifically narrower with lotto. The sphere refers to the probability factor of you winning. The problem with lotteries is that you have millions of people wishing, hoping, and praying, and magicking to win. Why should your magick or prayer be chosen over others? That's why, you need to combine lottery spells with luck and success spells. You need to work as much magick as you can and do it on a regular and continual basis. It's like a friend of mine who was looking for a wealthy husband often said: marrying money is a FULL TIME JOB. Here are a few items to incorporate for lottery luck and success. The color RED - this could be in the form of a candle or a mojo bag filled with herbs. Bay leaves and nutmeg can be rubbed into the candle or added to the bag. Eating watermelon, strawberry, and vanilla ice cream is alleged to greatly increase winning at games of chance. Good luck Prichard!

Finally, any magick done which involves manipulating the will of another (such as your thought influencing spell) would technically be considered "black" magick. Yes, that's right, even if I wanted to place a thought in Mike's mind to take better care of himself, technically, that is manipulative magick. Obviously, if I wanted to influence Mike to do harm to himself or others, that would be "black" magick. "White" magick is non manipulative and is always conscious of the Wiccan creed DO WHAT YE WILL AND HARM NONE.

It is also important to note the historical and racial context of the terms BLACK AND WHITE. Originally, the Church Fathers referred to rites from the African religion of Voodoo or Ife (meaning Life) as "black" or devil's magick. Many of the ancient gods and goddesses were demonized in the Bible in order to move monotheism and the patriarchy into it's hierarchical position. Ha, talk about a powerful placing of thoughts in other people's minds! These ideas still live in the collective consciousness even though the "black" magick contains many life and love affirming principles. Because of this history, many prefer to use the terms good or evil instead of black and white.

blessed be
lexa

Miss Virginia Asks...

Dear Lexa,

I have some deep concerns. As a psychic, how do you feel about ethics? I grew up believing in humankind knowing that by nature we have good and bad within ourselves. Whenever people are mean to me, I put forward my zen attitude because hurting people isn't what I was taught to do. I wish that those who are calling themselves psychics and let themselves entangled into the world of Maya, realise as soon as possible that the divine is far from being a money-making business, as souls have no price...
The Creator never charged a soul at birth (or before creation), as what you are receiving is a gift. It is up to you to decide for the price you want to ask a client, but I do believe that money can have such a negative impact on people above all in the psychic world. I do know what I am talking about, it almost cost me my life, when I decided to be in contact with a psychic.

Dear Miss Virginia,

I am so sorry to hear of your negative experience. You must be very careful about the psychics you entrust with your soul. Only last month, I found myself giving a second opinion to a very distraught woman who had a negative experience just as you describe. I was working a party and there was another psychic across the room who told her that someone in her family would get cancer or have a heart attack soon. This information had come completely unsolicited. Needless to say, I was pissed as hell, at having to undo this wrong. Firstly, because I was now going to have to look into an area that this woman did not want to see to begin with. And mostly, because it had been a long night, and now I was off the clock, doing this on my own time and I wanted to rest and go home! After reluctantly laying the cards, I saw asthma or emphysema but I also saw that this was a known condition of someone she loved and was not likely to get better or worse any time soon. She confirmed that her father had emphysema, and this reading seemed to put her mind at rest.

I have a very strong feeling about ethics and I caution you to beware of those practicing psychic manipulation. A true psychic is bound by oath to be RESPONSIBLE in how s/he disseminates information. It must be useful and helpful to the questioner and MORE IMPORTANTLY, as Witches, we must ask supernal permission for the prophecies. Lest we forget the lesson of the Scottish play, Act III Scene V, (although the scene is often cut from productions!) in which the Goddess Hecate, Queen of the Witches and ruler of the divinatory arts scolds her wards, the witches three.
Thunder.
Enter the three Witches, meeting HECATE.
1Witch:
Why, how now, Hecate! you look angerly.
Hecate:
Have I not reason, beldams as you are saucy and overbold?

How did you dare to trade and traffic with M******
In riddles and affairs of death;
And I, the mistress of your charms,
The close contriver of all harms,
Was never call'd to bear my part,
Or show the glory of our art?

One must never foretell the future without asking Her permission. There are also other gods and goddesses who rule this art. Artemis, Apollo, Hermes Trismegistus, and Fortuna, just to name a few. A good psychic will also invoke the guardian angels of the questioner as well as her or his own.

Now, let's talk money. There is a a long standing tradition, that one should not charge for the teachings of Wicca. This specifically refers to the knowledge that prepares one for initiation and does not include any craftmanship of occult items or services such as psychic tarot or astrology readings. The great occultist, Aleister Crowley, had some very strong and foul words against those who charged for the magickal arts. The truth is:
a) He charged for his lectures and ceremonies and
b) He was a trust fund baby!
So you know what - I don't want to even hear about it! I personally think it is fair for a psychic or any other spiritual counselor to charge a fee. However, they must be up front about the money that is being charged with no hidden clauses. (Beware the $2 reading from the gypsy storefront that ends up costing you your life savings!)

In ancient times, tribal communities took very good care of their shamans. They provided the holy ones among them with the best of the hunt and the harvest, luxury teepees and condo caves. Monks are given monestaries and modern day Rabbis usually have a very nice house included with their salaries. Psychics, like everybody else, have to eat! They need food and they need shelter and money is no more than a form of energy which is exchanged for other kinds of energy. Through money, the psychic can pay the bills and be nurtured, and therefore be free to do his or her work without stress.

Now one last thing, Miss V, and I know this is not very Zen of me, but I just need to play the Devil's Advocate here. Who told you that souls have no price?! Honey, that is absolutely not true! Just ask Al Pacino and Keanu Reeves. And what's this business about the Creator never charged a soul at birth (or before creation)? Have you checked out the prices for AI, ART, IVF, ZIFT, AND GIFT? None of that's a gift girl, it's damn expensive! Fertility is a booming business, which reminds me, I've got a whopper of a spell for conception and it'll cost you next to nothing in comparison...
