Body Graffiti

Lexa,

I was wondering about getting a tattoo. But my mom has an issue with me if I get a tattoo. I have been thinking about getting a tattoo of my astrological chart on my left side. What do u think about tattoos? I would really like to know your opinion.

Hi A
thanks for your question. You are probably going to be disappointed to find out that I agree with your Mom! Why get a tattoo? And of all things, your astro chart? Seems kind of redundant. You already are your chart and so much more! I say this because your chart progresses and moves as you grow and change, so ultimately, the birth chart is only a reflection of your history and not of your development.

I know that many pagans consider tattooing sacred and it is a big part of many ancient initiation rites. I have a differing opinion. In my eyes, the body is our sacred temple and a tattoo is a desecration of that sacred space. I also had a friend who died from ink poisoning and an infection resulting from a tattoo. So PLEASE BE CAREFUL and choose a safe and licensed person to give you a tattoo if you decide to do it. But my advice is to listen to the wisdom of your mother! Maybe you can find a middle ground and get a henna tattoo. Now that's my idea of fun! Plus you won't get trapped if you change your mind about the image you want. As a Gemini, I can't even imagine choosing one image to live with my whole life. And I wouldn't want to end up with my whole body covered in tattoos. You know this process can be addictive. Also, with henna tattoos, you could update your chart as it progresses over the years. Think about it.
blessed be
Lexa

Thank you Lexa. I think you and my mother are right. But I want to get the symbols of the leo wrapped around the gemini. I didnt mean the astro chart, because the chart always changes. By the way, your prediction came true. I will start school in the Fall for nursing. But for some reason I am scared that I will fail the class. Is there any spell to help be graduate from nursing school. I have dreamed about being a nurse for as long as I can remember. So if you have any spells that can help me become a LPN I would really appreciate it. And I was wondering, can you do spells for people in your home, because I have too many negative people in my house and it does no good to keep cleasning it.

Lexa, I totally agree about not getting a tattoo. I think they are just defacement and totally unecessary. I never saw a body where a tattoo looked better than the skin it covered.

Great blog, btw.

Getting a tattoo is just another way of expressing yourself. I have a tattoo of an angel on my shoulder which I got when I was going through some really bad times and felt everyone around me had abandoned me except for my "guardian" angel. It's there to remind me that someone is always looking over my shoulder, caring for me. I only have one. I know some folks go to the extreme with their body art and yes, I agree, too much is a desecration. If you choose to get a tattoo, choose wisely. Less is more.

Less is More I agree. Your angel tattoo sounds beautiful and I like the story behind it. I'm also curious as to how old you were when you got it. It certainly sounds like you thought it through and understood why you were getting it. My concern with young people is that they will later regret the decision and then have to live with an unwanted tattoo or with an outgrown image forever stamped on the body. That is why I suggest experimenting first with henna tattoos. Thanks for your comment.

Thanks Lexa. Angel tattoo girl here. I was thirty years old when I got my tattoo. And yes I did think it through very carefully and researched various artwork of angels before I made my decision. I agree with you about younger people, they may choose something trendy that they may regret as they get older. Tattoos definitely are not something you get "spur of the moment". Take care.

Zettabyte

A wild rambling rose of a woman,
with a smoky smile and jaunty hips.
Tan as a summer's day.

Brisk, bracing, brusque.
Like a March wind.

Cool air pours off a sheer blue glacier.

Ice lipped steel bergs
Way down under...

Pieces of the sky
scattered over the glassy waters of a lake.

Mirror world lake reflected.
A reflex action.
A world dopplegangered.
One twin clear and sure.
The other rippled by winds of fate and chance.
