Inspired by Sparky Duck's TT from two weeks back, I also decided to try the bookshelf meme. Sparky explains that "this is an attempt to learn something about the blogger (that would be me) from the books that they have read."

1. The Ottomans prepared by Adbülkadir Dedeoglu
this is a hardcover I bought in the museum in Istanbul. Very interesting read about the Sultans and their lives.

2. The Persian Boy by Mary Renault.
I've read and reread this one. Simply divine! Also 3 different psychics have told me I was Bagoas in a past-life. Now that's pretty revealing...

3. The Prophet by Kahil Gibran
a real treasure - constantly referring to this book.

4. Tango by Collier, Cooper, Azzi, y Martin
My first tango book :)

5. The Chief The Life of William Randolph Hearst by David Nasaw
Since I'm working for Hearst Corp., I thought I should read it. A lot more revealing than Citizen Kane although I just adore Orson Welles.

6. The Supermarket Sorceress by Lexa Roséan
I have 3 copies and I think they are among the last 10 still circulating in print. This was, of course, my first published book on witchcraft. (hmm, this is the only book on the list that I didn't purchase - although I worked very hard to write it :)

7. The Women's Encyclopedia of Myths and Secrets by Barbara Walker
I've referred to this book so many times throughout the years that the pages are falling out.

8. The Secret by Rhonda Byrne
Yeah, I bought it - way before they made it on Oprah. Not very impressed with the content but their marketing strategies are to kill for!

9. Secret Teachings of All Ages by Manly P. Hall
Now this has some real meaty SECRETS between the pages!

10. Complete collection of John Irving's works.
I love him!

11. Collected Fictions by Borges
my Bible.

12. "Degenerate Art" The Fate of the Avant-Garde in Nazi Germany
Very powerful. I saw the exhibition in Berlin of the original artworks banned by Hitler and bought this book there.

13. Moby Dick by Herman Melville
I own several additions of this work. Kind of an obsession.

Ok, a few posts back, I was talking about the total eclipse of the moon. One of the dangers of this - especially taking physical action during this time - is that people DO NOT SEE CLEARLY. They can become delusional, irrational, have the WOOL PULLED OVER THEIR EYES. It seems that the DEVIL INCARNATE (FOX TV) is up to it's old tricks of perpetuating lies. I remember the BIG LIE in 2000 when they falsely claimed that Bush won the Florida vote (when in fact Gore did). FOX led the way and the rest of the networks followed announcing Bush as the winner resulting in a stolen election. Then Fox began to lie about Iraq. Now they are lieing about Iran in an attempt to lead us into another senseless war.
Below is a copy of an email I received from Democrats.com. This is scary stuff. We do not want another war. Especially with Iran. If people would only take the time to learn the truth about other cultures, they would not be so afraid. Especially a culture like Iran - the Persian people are a beautiful lot and have an ancient culture full of mysticism and goddess lore. They are educated and enlightened and unlike FOX, Iran is NOT an AXIS of EVIL! Take some action to stop the lies!

I remember very clearly the daily fearmongering led by FOX as they cheered for war with Iraq. The 24/7 images, sound effects, yelling and threatening were an ever-present drumbeat for war. It was about this time in the lead-up to the Iraq war when the other TV networks started following FOX's lead. As CNN's Christiane Amanpour says in the video, they were intimidated by FOX into cheerleading for the Iraq war.

WE CANNOT LET THIS HAPPEN AGAIN.

This is a critical moment, and we must send a message to the major television networks urging them to ask tough questions, be skeptical, and tell us what is really happening. They must not follow FOX down the road to another war.

Funny enuf, I'm in a bit of a funk now as I find the time to reply to your email. You know it's often difficult to escape the negativity in life. From others and mostly from within ourselves. I think one of the most powerful ways to change this is to pass through the negativity for when we ignore it, or pretend it isn't there, it grows even larger. If you find yourself getting "caught" in the negativity of others, that probably means you are holding on to their negativity. In the words of Jesus: "Love your enemies, bless them that curse you." (Matthew 5:44) Hard as that may sound Babe, you've got to let go of things and keep movin!

In the Wicca, the journey through the abyss is part of the second degree initiation in which we learn about the dark side of human nature. We must pass through the abyss in order to re emerge in the light.

I need help in the love dept!!please answer my question

Dear Lexa,

A couple of months ago I met a guy and we had been texting and emailing each other once in a while but never got a chance to hang out until just recently where it's pretty much become a sexual relationship. He works in the nightlife, is surrounded by women all the time and I just want to have him for myself! I've never had this type of situation and i really do like him. Is there any kind of spell to make our relationship flourish into something deeper....or i guess, if worse comes to worse at least something to keep the relationship we have?

You need help in the patience dept!!! The fact that you sent me the same question over 3 times in separate emails has honestly ANNOYED me! It does not give me a lot of faith in your patience to sustain a relationship or even the realistic workings of the kind of spells you would have to work in order to bring positive change into this situation.

You ask for change but yet say you are willing to keep the status quo. Which is it? For magick to be truly effective, we must be committed to it! If you want to arrive at a certain destination, you cannot keep turning round in the road to revisit a place you have already been.

Now if you want to keep the relationship going as it is, I suggest using aphrodisiac foods and herbs such as oysters, celery, mint. (For a full list, you'll need to consult my book The Encyclopedia of Magickal Ingredients.) Yes, you will need to cook for him and infuse these things into both of your diets. You will also need to make constant offerings to Aphrodite and/or other goddesses of sexual delight and passion.

With regard to the larger goal? I am not exactly clear about what you are asking? Do you want him to quit his job in "nightlife" so he will not longer be "surrounded by women all the time"? Is there something he has done to make you doubt that he can (or wants to be) exclusive with you? If so, then you are treading in dangerous territory, especially if you attempt to do magick to try and control him and his will. This type of magick often backfires.

There is a candle spell that can be prepared (it can be ordered through my website) to help a relationship develop deeper. One can also petition the love goddess Erzuli for such matters. She loves pink, roses, melons. You can also work with red figure candles (one male/one female). Rub the candles with a love oil of rose, lemon, and musk and burn them for 10 minutes for 7 nights. Each night move the candles closer to each other. On the last night (which should end up on a full moon) let the candles be touching each other and melt completely into each other. Also on the 7th night, let the 2 candles burn to completion. Each night you must sit in front of the candles while they are burning and visualize how you would like the relationship to develop so that you can get closer. Why do Spells Backfire?

WD responds...
Often we go about working spells by attempting to control another's thoughts, feelings, or actions. This approach often "backfires" and that's why it is best to focus on ourselves in ritual. For example, you may want to do a protection from gossip spell on yourself instead of trying to tie someone else's tongue. Give it a shot and see if this line of magickal work doesn't bring better results for you.

It is believed that on Friday the 13th...


1. Eve tempted Adam with forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden (which is why the day is unlucky for men).

2. Cain killed his brother Abel on a Friday. (unlucky for siblings.)

3.. Noah's Ark set sail into the great flood (which is why the day has become unlucky for sailors).

4.. G-d toppled the Tower of Babel and caused men to speak in different tongues (which is why people get scared and confused and have trouble communicating on this day.)

5.. The Temple of Solomon was destroyed. (a day of bad luck for Jews).

6. Judas was the thirteenth guest at the Last Supper and

7. Christ died on the cross that same Friday. (a day of bad luck for Christians.)

8. Friday was originally sacred to the Fertility Goddess Frigga or Freya. When the Norse and Germanic tribes converted to Christianity, the Goddess was banished to a mountaintop and called a witch. Venus Retrograde

First off, I have had several readings with you and absolutely love your work. Second, and the reason I am writing you, is the upcoming Venus retrograde. I have been reading some absolutely heinous things about what it may bring and was wondering if you could provide me some clarity. I am Libra, Taurus rising, Moon in Aries and Venus in Scorpio, my boyfriend is Scorpio, Leo rising, Moon in Gemini, Venus in Libra. It has always been a bumpy ride... but does this planetary arrangement mean we are about to capsize??

Thanks for the kudos and your concern is understandable considering the planet heavily influences you. Both Taurus and Libra are ruled by Venus so you will be especially tuned in to all the subtle vibrations of this retrograde.

In general, romantic relationships can be strained when the planet of love trips the light fantastic a la Ginger Rogers*, just as communications are strained when Mercury the messenger goes through his backward motion. However, because Venus is transiting through Virgo, a healthy fight in couple's therapy could clear up years of bad air. This will be a great time to get to the bottom of things and figure out what has and what is going wrong and therefore you can prevent future problems. Look out though because as the planet moves back through Leo (Aug 13 - Sep 8), the egos take hold and we must take care not to let pride defeat love.

The saving grace of this retrograde is that when Venus transits through Leo, she will also be conjunct Saturn. This dance with big daddy is very favorable for forming long and stable unions. (Although marriage is not recommended during the retrograde.) The key is to be responsible in relationships and show up for the more serious issues in life.

Through your combined charts, it looks like you will have strong reactions to both the Leo and the Virgo aspects of this retrograde. The fire/air (Aries/Gemini/Leo/Libra) will be more susceptible to the Leo aspect yet the water (Scorpio) should respond quite well to the Virgo healing aspect. Will you capsize? It depends on how maturely you handle the challenges put before you during this period. Let's put it this way, the boat's gonna rock and it's definitely sink or swim time!

Is it Big Love or Cheating?

my husband lives two doors down with his girlfriend but spends two nights a week here at home. He swears he loves me and wants me to always be here for him. He is my life, my all. What can I do? Please help me!

Well, if you switch houses with the neighbors in between, you can all live together like the family on HBO's Big Love. Seriously though, I'm not quite sure how to advise you. He seems clear about what he wants but you don't seem at all clear about what you want. You sound somewhat resigned to the situation. Magick is usually not effective when there is no will or drive behind the ritual. You are not telling me that you want him to leave the girlfriend and be 100% faithful to you. In fact, it sounds like on some level you have accepted the polyamores arrangements. Figure out what YOU want - and then get back to me.

I saw it and it was really amazing. I have always felt that way. I want to get your opinion on something. Several years ago I had a reading by Sylvia Brown. And she told me that i would marry someone by November of 2002 with initials BK, and he would be short and husky with brownish-gray hair. Didn't marry that guy and never meet anyone with those initials. What do you think about Sylvia Brown when she says that witches are not real and are just fakes, I don't feel that way, but just want to know your opinion.

Well, I don't have much of any opinion on SB. Don't know much about her except that I've seen her a few times on Montel while channel surfing. My impression is that she is pretty careless with the predictions. Just rolls them off the tongue and doesn't seem to ask permission from any angels or Goddess or use any sacred oracle to predict. (I could be wrong about this but from what I've seen, she just talks off the top of her head.) As for witches not being real...that's like saying Jews, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, or Hindus are not real. We are as real as any other spiritual/religious persons and those who truly worship the Goddess and follow her ways are not fake. Well, there you have it. My humble opinion.

I have read a spell on breaking couples up. Say if I want to break a couple up, wouldnt that come back on me 3 fold. I read the spell with a black cloth, black thread, and a glass cup or container, write their names on separate pieces of paper and put it in the glass cup or container on separate sides and put the black clother over the top of the glass and tie with black thread. and stick it in the back of the freezer. I just want to know what you think about it. And would it come back on me 3 fold?

Yes, most likely this will come back at you in some form or another. As the old adage concerning lovers goes: "you lose them the same way you gain them." That's definitely something to consider especially if you want to break up the couple so that you can be with one of them. I'm in the middle of reading Nemesis; The True Story of Aristotle Onassis, Jackie O, and the Love Triangle That Brought Down the Kennedys by Peter Evans, so it's funny that you write me with this question. At one point Maria Callas was part of a sailing party on Christina (Onassis yacht) and she saw a bracelet on the wrist of Lee Radziwill (the sister of First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy). Callas knew it was a gift from Onassis and knew that he had replaced her with a new lover. Sometime later, Lee noticed an expensive bracelet on Jackie's wrist while sailing on the Christina and realized that HER SISTER had replaced her as Onassis's new lover! Talk about KARMA!!! Ouch - that must have stung big time!!!

In some cases, separation spells are not bad karma, for example when there is physical or mental abuse involved and the spell is worked for the good and protection of someone involved.
